Studies from around the world have shown how valuable having a doula is.  My philosophy as a doula is to get to know your family well enough to understand what is most important to you throughout this wonderful and life changing process.  I see it as my job to help fulfill these intentions for birth and post-partum.    A doula is there beforehand to help offer all the information needed to make informed decisions.

During the birth process the doula is there to help facilitate the plans that have made.   The doula will use a variety of comforting tools to help the process progress smoothly and to ensure that the families needs are being met.

Post-partum a doula can serve as a precious resource for all of the new parent anxieties and concerns.  The doula can also show the parents tools to soothe newborns, how to wear the baby in the sling properly and share information about can be expected during the transitional time of the first few months .

Cheers,

Abigail
